No. 55

Did I do enough?

[No. 55]

IN THE QUIET OF THE END OF THE DAY, WHAT DOES THE VOICE INSIDE YOUR HEAD SAY?

Grateful
I sink
Fluffy white cloud
Cool linen warms
As I thank
The stars above
For the bed where
I lay my head

These days
So very many things
Spinning off axis in
Our tender world
The separation
The pain
The planet
When will we shift?

Did I do enough?
Could I do more?
What did I learn?
Where did I yearn?
How did I love?
What did I say?
Did I show I care?
And what of repair?

Visions of new worlds
Rewritten language
Fresh tongues
Dancing lover
Holds my hand
Today she was happy
Open possibilities
Freedom for all

Now put down your screen
[As I tell my teen]
“Sweet dreams, love.”
Goodnight
Sleep tight
I love you
Until we meet
Again

WHAT DOES THE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD SAY AS YOU CRAWL INTO BED?
